Are We A Christian Nation???

As I sit here and pondering that thought. We say that we are a so-called Christian Nation but are we really.

Do we really follow the bible and what is in there or do we just use it to fit our own needs and to justify what we believe in.

I have been really wondering about lately as the two big political parties are having their conventions right to decide who their nominee for President of the United States is.

In all the speeches, I have heard everyone at the end says “God Bless You” and “God Bless the United States”. Do they really believe it or is it just something to say.

We are in the fifth (headed to the sixth month) month of this pandemic and I see tent cities popping up all over the place in the area in which I live-the San Francisco Bay Area. People have lost their jobs, their homes, medical coverage and other basics of life and our so-called leaders are arguing over petty bullshit. People who need the help the most are not being helped as our leaders play out their petty little squabbles and pissing contests.

Is this Christ’s example??

We are seeing people displaying their worst behavior these days in public. It is sad to see. Is this what the Bible says to do?

The open racism being displayed against people of color that we see going on. Is this elements of being a Christian nation?

There are a people in this country who really believe in the Christian ideals and live them everyday. I see people helping each other all the time. Acts of kindness is what being a Christian is about. Living life as Jesus would is what being a Christian is about.

I know I am not perfect and nobody is perfect but our leaders in this country use the line “God Bless America” as a line and I don’t think they truly believe it. They just use it as a way to get votes.

If we were a truly Christian Nation, things would be a lot different in this country. There would be less greed, people would have homes, we would have less people hungry and wealth would be more equal.
